Strong Student Participation at the EULiST Information Event held at NTUA

03/03/2026

A highly successful student-led Information Event on the EULiST Alliance was recently held at NTUA, showcasing the wide range of opportunities available to students in terms of mobility, engagement, and academic development.

Event Highlights

The agenda focused on:

  • Providing a clear and accessible overview of the EULiST Alliance, its structure, and the participating countries and universities.
  • Presenting the active role of students through the EULiST Student Board, as well as their involvement in Work Packages (WPs) and Task Groups, such as Task Group 1.2 “Student Engagement”.
  • Sharing personal experiences from students who have taken part in EULiST activities.
  • Presenting short-term mobility opportunities through Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs).
  • Promoting the upcoming Student Conference 2026.
  • Showcasing the Digital Campus, including a live demonstration of the Course Catalogue and the AI tools available within the platform.

First-Hand Experiences

Particularly engaging were the short presentations delivered by students who had previously participated in BIPs and in one of the past Student Conferences. Through their testimonials, they highlighted:

  • the academic and intercultural experience they gained,
  • the opportunity to network with students and academics from across Europe,
  • the meaningful role students can play in shaping the Alliance’s activities.

Strong Interest in Active Engagement

During the discussion, many students expressed their interest in joining the local EULiST team as volunteers. Plans are already being considered for the organisation of an ΟPEN DAY to further inform and welcome new members.

The event clearly demonstrated the growing momentum around EULiST and confirmed the increasing interest of the student community in international collaboration, mobility opportunities, and active participation in shaping the European University of the future.

EULiST BIP “Blade Design for Turbomachinery” organised by TU Wien

03/03/2026 Date: 16–22 June 2026

TU Wien, in cooperation with Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Brno University of Technology, University of Belgrade and Budapest University of Technology and Economics, is organising a Blended Intensive Program (BIP) entitled “Blade Design for Turbomachinery”. The programme includes online sessions in April, May and June 2026, followed by in-person activities from June 16 to June 22, 2026, in Vienna, Austria.

Type of participants / Target group:
Students at Master level (2nd cycle) in Engineering (ISCED: 0710)

Objectives and description:

The aim of this course is that the successful student can design and optimize a turbomachinery blade for a given application.

The course is divided into three components: initial blade design based on empirical models, blade optimisation using fluid dynamic simulations, and experimental validation. Therefore, the course covers various blade shape design strategies, including their implications for turbomachinery performance. The initial blade shape is then optimised using numerical flow simulations, where a parametric optimisation is likely performed by the students. The best-performing blade shape is the materialised using a 3D printer and tested in a wind tunnel. Thereby, the course provides the students with holistic and practical skills in turbomachinery design.

While the described component is performed in-person by the students in small groups, the theory and the summarising protocol are established in the virtual components of this course..

Number of ECTS: 4

Language of instruction: English

Application, deadline and nomination procedure:
Interested students should contact their university’s Erasmus office and EULiST local coordinator for more institution-specific information such as different application deadlines due to internal procedures. The selections will be carried out by the students’ home institutions.
