Summer course on building performance simulation

This event is organised in a blended mobility format, with face-to-face activities taking place at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava from 11 to 15 September 2023. The exact venue will be announced at a later date.

The virtual part of the activities will take place in the form of self-study and tailor-made consultations in the time run up to the summer camp. It will consist of studying recommended online materials and preparing student’s own simulation model of the building using a non-commercial software, e.g., Energy Plus or esp-r. During the summer camp, the participants will complete and present the model. Currently we are looking for partners as well as for the student participants.

The summer camp itself will include a series of lectures with practical demonstrations in energy and daylighting building simulations. Special attention will be paid to the optimization of light facades / curtain walls and glazing. During the summer camp, students will prepare simulation models to assess daylighting, summer overheating and/or year-round energy demand. The software used will be Energy Plus, Design Builder, Building Design, and possibly some others.

Students coming under the BIP mobility can earn 4 credits for completing the whole programme (virtual part + summer camp), with a ratio of virtual to face-to-face part of 1.5 to 2.5. The summer camp is also open to applicants without Erasmus+ support. In this case, however, a fee of 50,-EUR is required. STU students and students with Ukrainian citizenship are exempt from the fee.

More information will be published soon.
