EULiST Workshop in Brno: Advancing the Roadmap for European Education

26/03/2026

Strong alliances build stronger universities and create better opportunities for students across Europe. Embracing this spirit, the EULiST Alliance gathered approximately 40 colleagues for the Work Package 3 (WP3) Workshop, hosted by Brno University of Technology (BUT) on March 2 -3. The meeting reaffirmed that collaboration within the Alliance leads to concrete steps toward higher-quality and more accessible European education.

Strategic Vision and Common Values

Participants, joining both in person and online, explored the roadmap for 2026+, quality assurance initiatives, and strategic steps toward a European Joint Degree. Throughout the discussions, the Alliance reaffirmed its core values of equality, inclusiveness, diversity, and academic freedom.

“The workshop gave us a chance to design common solutions for excellent and more accessible education, strengthen support for students, increase the quality of study opportunities, and explore a common path towards the European Joint Degree,” reflected Tomáš Katrňák from BUT, leader of Task 3.5.

Synergy Across Work Packages

Alessandra Continenza from the University of L’Aquila, Leader of WP3, emphasized the importance of bringing together experts active in different tasks and work packages.

“Representatives debated overarching issues connecting the many activities within EULiST in a warm, comfortable, and collaborative atmosphere,” she commented, adding that the outcomes will guide the next actions to further strengthen the Alliance.

URJC presents the current status of the EULiST Alliance and its upcoming challenges at an internal information session

06/03/2026

The Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) held the EULiST Update Meeting on March 5 with the aim of sharing with the university community involved in the project the progress achieved by the EULiST Alliance (European Universities Linking Society and Technology), as well as the main milestones and challenges that will shape its development in the coming years.

The meeting brought together the institutional and technical teams involved in the different tasks of the European project, providing an overview of the current status of the alliance and the areas of work in which URJC is actively contributing.

The session was opened by César Cáceres Taladriz, Rector’s Delegate for the EULiST Alliance, who highlighted the strategic importance of this initiative within the framework of the European Universities Initiative. This was followed by Pablo Tomás Salvadores Alonso, Director of Internationalization, who provided a general introduction to the project and to the organizational structure of the alliance, which at URJC involves more than 50 people and representatives from the university’s ten faculties and schools.

Progress in the Work Packages

During the event, the technical leads of each Work Package (WP) presented the main results achieved so far and the activities currently underway:

  • WP1 – Management, Coordination & Strategy, presented by Juan Manuel García Camús, addressed progress in governance, sustainability and diversity in STEM, as well as challenges related to the development of a common quality and sustainability system and the legal framework of the alliance.
  • WP2 – Campus, coordinated at URJC by Bernardino Muñoz Valadés, presented key initiatives such as the development of the Digital Campus, the EULiST Course Catalogue, the Knowledge Hub and the Academic Support Centre for students and staff.
  • WP3 – Teaching and Learning, presented by Alejandro Galiano Navarro, highlighted the availability of more than 350 courses in the EULiST catalogue, the promotion of innovative teaching methodologies and the integration of artificial intelligence tools into the digital campus.
  • WP4 – Research and Innovation, coordinated at URJC by Leticia Díaz Platero, presented advances in the development of common research strategies, research group databases and collaborative activities for early-career researchers.
  • WP5 – Outreach, Engagement and Transfer, presented by Juan Manuel García Camús, focused on communication, knowledge transfer and engagement with society, including the creation of innovation hubs and the development of a joint communication strategy for the entire alliance.

Communication and international outreach

Beatriz Jiménez Sánchez then presented the evolution of the alliance’s communication model, which has moved from ten independent units to a joint PR Unit composed of representatives from all participating universities. This structure will help improve coordination and ensure greater consistency in the dissemination of EULiST activities.

The strengthening of the alliance’s communication strategy was also highlighted, including the launch of new social media channels and the development of digital tools aimed at improving the dissemination of activities, participation opportunities and project results among the university community and society.

Looking ahead to the future of EULiST

The final session was dedicated to reflecting on the future of the alliance and its upcoming milestones, including new initiatives in collaborative research, innovative education and knowledge transfer, as well as the strengthening of cooperation among the member universities.

The event concluded with a Q&A and discussion session that helped reinforce internal coordination and further consolidate URJC’s participation in this European alliance, which aims to connect society and technology through higher education, research and innovation.

EULiST Alliance Celebrates International Day of Women and Girls in Science with the First “SCI WOMEN PARTY”

12/02/2026

The EULiST Alliance, alongside the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I), organized the first SCI-WOMEN PARTY on 11 February to commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Hosted by the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) in Madrid, the event served as a vital forum for reflection on the presence and impact of women in the scientific and professional worlds.

A Space for Reflection and Connection
The initiative brought together sixteen women with diverse professional backgrounds—ranging from academic research to high-level corporate management. This diversity enriched the dialogue, allowing for a deep dive into the different generational, social, and cultural experiences that shape a woman’s career in science today. Participants analyzed both the progress made in recent years and the persistent challenges that still hinder women’s advancement into management and leadership positions.

From Dialogue to Actionable Guidelines
The impact of the SCI-WOMEN PARTY will extend far beyond the event itself. The conclusions drawn from these discussions will be published in a Guide to Best Practices. This document aims to provide concrete strategies to eliminate gender stereotypes and encourage more girls and women to pursue scientific vocations.

Future International Outlook Building on the success of this first edition, the EULiST Alliance and UCC+I are set to promote this initiative. The goal is to scale the project into an international conference featuring partners from all ten European universities within the EULiST network. Through this initiative, the URJC and the EULiST Alliance reinforce their shared commitment to promoting equal opportunities and making the vital contributions of women in science visible on a global stage.

EULiST Demonstration Pavilion at LUH

02/02/2026

A demonstration pavilion has been made available at LUH for the European University Alliance EULiST!

It is intended to showcase research and teaching for the transformation to sustainable energy systems and other sustainable technologies.
It was previously used for demonstration in the EU project H-DisNet to show innovative technologies.
The pavilion will become part of a campus demonstrator within the framework of EULiST at LUH.

The next steps are the search for a location and the development of the demonstration activities.
For the campus buildings, LUH colleagues will monitor a representative building as a living lab and develop an exemplary renovation approach.
Other aspects of sustainability, especially as they can be demonstrated on campus, are welcome.
All members of LUH and the EULiST network are invited to participate in these activities.
