Engaging with society and inspiring future generations are key ambitions of the EULiST alliance. At Researchers’ Night 2026, hosted by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in September 2026, EULiST created an interactive space where visitors of all ages could discover the opportunities, experiences, and international perspectives offered by the alliance.

A Gateway to European Opportunities

Throughout the event, the NTUA EULiST team and student ambassadors (EULiSTers) welcomed hundreds of visitors, introducing them to the alliance’s vision of a connected European higher education ecosystem. Through hands-on activities, conversations, and interactive experiences, participants explored how EULiST opens doors to international mobility, collaboration, and learning across Europe.

Students at the Heart of EULiST’s Presence

2026 marked the third year of EULiST’s participation in Researchers’ Night at NTUA, a well-established institution that has been bringing research and innovation closer to the public for thirteen years. This year, the EULiST booth was given a particularly vibrant and distinctive character through the active involvement of the EULiST NTUA Student Team. The students played a key role in welcoming visitors, supporting interactive activities, and bringing the alliance’s spirit to life through their enthusiasm, creativity, and direct engagement with the public. Their contribution highlighted the importance of student involvement in strengthening EULiST’s visibility and fostering a sense of community within the alliance.

Highlights of the EULiST Experience:

Interactive Learning: Visitors tested their knowledge through a fun and engaging EULiST quiz, learning more about Europe, the alliance, and its educational opportunities.

Discovering the Alliance: An interactive map invited participants to explore all eleven partner universities and gain insight into the diverse academic and cultural environments that make up EULiST.

Inspiring Young Minds: Creative activities, including balloon painting inspired by the EULiST identity, helped younger visitors connect with the alliance in an enjoyable and memorable way.

Direct Engagement: Students, families, and prospective applicants had the opportunity to speak with EULiST representatives and ambassadors about study programs, mobility opportunities, and international collaboration.

Researchers’ Night gave us the opportunity to engage directly with high school students, families, and the wider public, putting the spotlight on individual EULiST researchers and university students through their own everyday work and study, so that every citizen could picture themselves in their shoes. By sharing meaningful conversations and interactive experiences on how EULiST mobilities and international co-creation teams have broadened our horizons, we inspired visitors to see themselves as part of a truly European learning community and unlock the true potential for all EULiSTers.

What impressed me most was the sense of connection. EULiST brings together people, cultures, and ideas from across Europe, helping young people see themselves as part of something much bigger than their own university or country. The interactive activities made learning about European universities fun and engaging. I discovered places and opportunities I had never heard of before, and it made me curious about studying abroad in the future.

Creating Meaningful Connections Between Universities and Society

Researchers’ Night 2026 strengthened public awareness of the alliance and its mission. The event demonstrated how European university alliances can engage audiences far beyond campus boundaries. By combining education, creativity, and personal interaction, EULiST made international higher education more accessible and tangible for visitors, helping them better understand the opportunities available through European cooperation. It stands as a powerful example of how EULiST brings European cooperation closer to citizens while inspiring future students, researchers, and innovators to think beyond borders and shape the future together.
