EULiST first Friday for Research

On March 1st, 2024, the 1st EULiST “Friday for Research” joint online meeting was successfully conducted within the Alliance members. More than 80 participants from the EULiST Member Universities attended the event in order to meet and generate ideas, promote scientific excellence and innovation capacity building.

The debut theme of the 1st “Friday for Research” joint meeting focused on Energy Storage and Renewables, with a specific emphasis on Hydrogen Production and Utilization in Energy Systems. This focal area encompassed discussions on:

  • New solutions for the Hydrogen economy
  • Hydrogen storage materials
  • Fuel cells materials
  • Electrolyser materials
  • Electricity market and hydrogen storage
  • Hydrogen underground storage
  • Social impact of Hydrogen economy
  • Hydrogen carriers
  • LCA
  • Any other relevant topics

EULiST strives to establish a cohesive platform for collaborative research and innovation initiatives, facilitating knowledge exchange and best practice sharing through joint participation in relevant EU R&D calls to secure public funding. The Alliance has identified potential calls, focusing on the research area of the Hydrogen Economy.

Following the presentation of the philosophy of Fridays for Research by NTUA Prof. Sotirios Karellas (WP4 lead), and the outlines of the requirements and regulations of MSCA calls by Mr Marc Delage from IMT, representatives from all 10 EULiST Universities showcased their research activities and accomplishments related to the issue via dedicated presentations, ultimately aiming to establish common ground for synergistic collaboration. Robust expertise and impactful research and innovation initiatives were demonstrated spanning the entire H2 value chain. This ranged from production and materials engineering to end-use applications and sophisticated high-level energy system modelling. Leveraging their strong expertise in the emerging field of hydrogen economy, the Alliance members pledged to pursue additional collaborations and joint funding applications.
