Connecting students with innovation ecosystems and real-world challenges
Collaboration with external stakeholders is a vital part of the EULiST alliance mission. By bringing regional innovation hubs, businesses, and industry professionals directly into EULiST activities, students gain hands-on opportunities to tackle real-world challenges, build entrepreneurial skills, and engage with perspectives beyond academia.
From Concept to Real-World Impact
A standout example of this approach was the collaboration with Science Park Jönköping, which delivered the practical workshop “Startup Sprint: Build an Idea That Matters” at the EULiST Student Conference 2026 hosted by Brno University of Technology.
Led by business developers Asia Chaabi and Simon Hagedorn, the session challenged students from across the alliance to:
- Identify and address key societal challenges
- Apply entrepreneurial thinking to turn concepts into meaningful action
- Combine academic perspectives with practical innovation methodologies
- Work in interdisciplinary, international student teams
Bridging Academia and Working Life
The workshop generated strong enthusiasm, drawing high engagement and overwhelmingly positive feedback from student participants. For many, it was a unique chance to collaborate across disciplines, share fresh viewpoints with peers from different European countries, and approach complex problems from new angles.
We received excellent feedback from the students, with many saying that our workshop was one of the best they’d attended during the conference. EULiST creates opportunities to share knowledge, build relationships across national borders and be inspired by how the next generation wants to shape the society of the future. These are experiences and ideas that we’re taking home with us.
