EULiST BIP “Principles of Quantum and Nonlinear Photonics” organised by UNIVAQ

The University of L’Aquila, in cooperation with TU Wien and Leibniz University Hannover, is organizing a Blended Intensive Program (BIP), called “Principles of Quantum and Nonlinear Photonics”, which will take place with online sessions in September – October 2026, and in-person activities from September 21 to September 25, 2026, in L’Aquila -Italy.

Type of participants/Target group: 1°, 2°, 3° cycle students, in the areas of Physics, Engineering Physics, Materials Science, Telecommunications Engineering.

Objectives and description: The BIP introduces the physical principles and current research directions in quantum and nonlinear photonics, with emphasis on light-matter interaction in nanostructured and emerging photonic platforms. It combines online preparatory lectures (fundamentals and key tools) with an in-person intensive week in L’Aquila featuring advanced lectures, problem-solving sessions, and student discussions. The in-person component will be embedded within the “Quantum and Nonlinear Photonics” Autumn School, providing participants with broader exposure to invited speakers and networking opportunities.

Number of ECTS: 3

Language of instruction: English – B2 level required

Application, deadline and funding possibilities: Interested students should contact their university’s Erasmus office and EULiST local coordinator for more institution-specific information such as different application deadlines due to internal procedures. The selections will be carried out by the students’ home institutions.
