ELMO-LION European PhD Course and Summer School in Battery Technology and Innovation

ELMO-LION (Educational Learning Modules on Li-ION batteries) is a new European PhD course and Summer School in battery technology and innovation, which is co-funded by EIT Raw Materials,  focused on Li-ion batteries.

The program offers 6 ECTS credits and is structured into three modules:

  1. Online Lectures: Eight two-hour digital lectures delivered by renowned battery experts, covering topics such as battery material synthesis, spectroscopic studies, first-principles modeling, diagnostics, reuse, recycling, and the battery market. The participation fee is 50€.
  2. Project Work: Students will address real-world challenges provided by industrial partners, developing solutions through literature review and original ideas. These projects are conducted remotely under mentor supervision, culminating in a written report. The participation fee is 50€.
  3. Summer School: Held in Padova, Italy, from July 28th to August 1st, 2025, this five-day event features lectures and seminars by industry and academic experts, workshops on securing startup funding, and collaborative project development with supervision from both sectors. The participation fee is 450€, which includes lectures and seminars, accommodation for 4 nights, lunches, coffee breaks, and a banquet.
